To expand on this, CWE, for the longest time, has aligned with writing, and players decide the outcome. Unfortunately, that approach is less favorable to the status quo, in which players rely on staff to determine wins. My long-held belief is that there are far more pressing issues at hand when you leave others to decide your outcomes. There is no such thing as a perfect system; however, after a long period of time experiencing other methods- and my own limited time to play- I felt that the WWE 2k2* approach and randomized wins per the computer/AI was the best and fairest way to play an e-Fed where it also felt equitable. This does not mean that one cannot have control if everything is randomized- to address that concern, a point system (attendance) to determine match opportunities exists. And to get around the problem of AI never giving you title opportunities, there is a system in which, on your third attempt, you are guaranteed a title you have set your eyes on.
And to address those that STILL want to match write traditionally, with player choice decisions- that is also an option.
I think this approach, as mentioned, is the best way to address everything I just pointed out with fairness, equity, and mindful of time commitments. By playing here, you're not sacrificing your sanity with event after event after event and the drama that can come with competitive e-Feds.
